MPMS GRADING POLICY 2014-2015
At MPMS, we believe that grades should accurately reflect a student’s knowledge of the Standard Course of Study and communicate this performance to stakeholders.

Homework
Late Work & Zeroes: BOE described new policy as a “no accepting zeroes” policy
Teachers, counselors, administrators, students, and parents will all work together to ensure that this policy helps us best report a student’s understanding of curriculum and not develop poor work habits.
Homework: Defined as nightly, day-to-day homework
Point Recovery on Assessments
At MPMS, we believe that grades should accurately reflect a student’s knowledge of the Standard Course of Study and communicate this performance to stakeholders.
Point Values
- Tests: 25-50 points
- Quizzes: 1-20 points
- Classwork/Labs: 1-15 points, no grade for completion
- Projects: 1-20 points, unless used in lieu of unit assessment and worked on primarily in class
- Homework: 1 point, no grade for completion, not to exceed 5% of overall total points
Homework
- Worth 1 point maximum
- Must be checked over by teacher, not credited for completion, if graded
- Assignments need to be added to PS individually, not in weekly or unit-long clusters
- Classwork that a student brings home to finish is not considered homework in the gradebook

- 1 pt, late work accepted at teacher’s discretion with end-of-unit deadline
- End-of-unit deadline for up to 100%, based on accuracy of work
- Zero placed in PS until work is completed
- Deadline dates will be published in class and online so students and parents are always aware.
- These are the late assignments that the extended working lunch period can best address.
- Late work will be accepted through the end of quarter.
- Zero placed in PS until work is completed
Point Recovery on Assessments
- Point recovery will be available for all students on tests of 25 points or greater, and not offered on quizzes of 20 points or less.
- This will be available one time after a test.
